Hi Dr. Bauer, Those were very funny. But I have a question more down your alley in chemistry. The fluoridation of water: one of the most common chemicals added to water is sodium fluoride [NaF] (like sodium chloride). Is there some sort of reaction that takes place over time that converts sodium fluoride into hydrofluoric acid [HF]? Hydrofluoric acid in addition to being an extreme poison is very bad for bones and teeth. It’s been reported that many people have been getting deteriorated teeth possibly because of fluoridated water. Is this a reasonable characterizaion of the problem of fluoridated water?

It takes a very strong, concentrated acid to convert NaF to HF, and couldn’t happen at the high dilution of fluoridated water. I don’t know what is deleterious about fluoridated water, but there’s an enormous literature out there by people who have opposed fluoridation for decades.
