In any case, Table 2 gives actual numbers for AIDS and for deaths in the several reported age ranges, and your critic can easily calculate the respective distributions for both, and also the means, and could then be specific rather than making that abstract, doubtfully pertinent, and rather ad hominem comment re "high school understanding". The strongest result, to my mind, is that the mortality from AIDS or HIV disease does not increase with age, which means that those categories are not illnesses, because ALL illnesses bring sharply increasing mortality rates with age. And since those categories are not illnesses, "treating" them with toxic substances can only shorten, not prolong life. As my calculations in the criticized piece show.

Hi Dr Bauer I realize this is an older article but I suggested someone read it and got this in reply….”You do realize they use MEDIAN age & NOT mean age. While not having the mean age to work with so I can’t comment on the actual effectiveness or lack thereof; I can say it takes a high school understanding of statistics to comprehend that the MEDIAN age of death will not see a dramatic shift unless the distribution of people WITH HIV is changed (eg-80% of group MOVES to certain age group)

I have no interest in math and the person who replied thus is apparently not willing to come over here and point out your “error” so I decided to do it for him. Of course…he based that reply on what I could squeeze into the youtube comments boxes and never read the article for himself. Do you have a comment about it? I really really have no interest in math beyond reading or watching histories of math or bios of mathematicians so I have no reply.

When reading this I am reminded of the massive increases reported in the main stream media of obesity and diabetes “in the last 20 years”. Forgetting of course, the changes in the BMI [body mass index] and BSL [blood-sugar level] in order to be considered one or the other.
